Today we are excited to announce that Noumi.Digital has officially launched our South Africa office. This is a big step for us, and we believe there’s never been a better moment to deepen our commitment here given the rapid evolution of consumer & retailer digital behaviour.
Why SA is a key market right now
Here are some trends that show just how much opportunity there is for digital loyalty, receipts, and seamless payment experiences in South Africa:
Loyalty is widespread & growing. ~ 82% of South Africans now use loyalty programmes (up from ~76% in 2023).
Consumers are using more programmes. Even mass-market consumers are active in 8+ loyalty programmes; many have 10 or more.
Digital payment adoption is strong. ~ 70.5% of adults have made a digital payment in the past year.
There’s growing use of digital wallets, contactless & app-based payments, and online payment services.
Online retail is surging. E-commerce is rapidly expanding; grocery, fashion, electronics among the fastest growing categories.
What about digital receipts?
While we don’t yet have strong published data showing precise adoption rates of “electronic receipts” (i.e. digital copies given to consumers in place of or alongside printed ones) in South Africa, the related trends suggest the need is real and growing:
Consumers are increasingly expecting frictionless, integrated digital-touchpoint experiences (loyalty, payments, self-service).
Sustainability, convenience (not losing receipts), better tracking for returns/warranties, and ease of storage are becoming more important.
The government is moving toward e-invoicing / e-reporting frameworks, which suggests an environment where digital documentation (receipts, invoices) is increasingly supported and regulated.
What this means for us at Noumi.Digital
We believe this is the moment to bring our expertise in digital loyalty, receipt-solutions, data-driven consumer experiences and seamless payments to the table. With high loyalty usage, increasing digital payment preference, and policy shifts toward electronic documentation, there’s a clear opening for:
Helping brands convert loyalty programmes into richer, digital & omnichannel experiences
Building digital receipt / e-receipt systems that reduce friction, improve UX, and support sustainability
Integrating payment, loyalty, receipt/invoice data to enable better personalisation, analytics, & operational efficiency
We’re thrilled to be in South Africa, working with local partners, clients, and customers to help shape the future of digital loyalty and receipts.
If you’re interested in exploring collaboration, learning how digital receipts might work for your business, or just want to connect over these trends — let’s talk.
